Richard joins AI storage provider Excelero as board advisor

Henri Richard of Excelero

Excelero, a specialist in software-defined block storage for artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) / deep learning and GPU computing, reports that longtime enterprise technology executive and strategist Henri Richard has become an advisor to its board of directors.

As AI/ML/deep learning and HPC deployments drive demand for newer software-defined storage solutions using NVMe Flash, Richard will assist Excelero’s executive team in uncovering opportunities to accelerate growth.

“Excelero is addressing one of the most pivotal demands in enterprise technology today building end-to-end, high-performance storage solutions for AI training and analytics workloads at any scale with maximum ROI,” says Henri Richard. “New workloads require new storage, and Excelero’s groundbreaking approaches to Elastic NVMe have widespread appeal. I look forward to helping Excelero find new opportunities for growth.”

“Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, Excelero concluded Q2 2020 significantly over plan, on a path to 400% growth year over year with similar percentage growth in the number of new customers,” comments Lior Gal, CEO and co-founder of Excelero.

“Our 2020 performance to date speaks volumes about the high regard we’ve earned for Excelero’s NVMesh software, which for many marquee customers is the only answer to their demand for performance, agility and scalability.

Henri’s over 40 years of global expertise in enterprise computing hardware, software and solutions already have made him immensely valuable in refining our strategic vision for the NVMesh software solution set. We look forward to expanding further and faster with Henri on our team.”

Excelero distributes block storage software. Founded in 2014 by a team of storage veterans, the company delivers Elastic NVMe software that enables partners to build end-to-end, high-performance storage solutions for AI training and analytics workloads at any scale.

With its partners, Excelero enables customers to massively improve ROI across the entire datacentre, using standard servers, maximising component utilisation (NVMe, GPU), minimising overhead and reducing software license costs.

Excelero’s NVMesh is distributed block storage that connects CPUs and GPUs to NVMe flash to create a significant improvement in price/performance, from entry level to any scale. NVMesh was designed as a storage layer that eradicates data bottlenecks so teams can access data at any speed in any location.

NVMesh is claimed to deliver 20x faster data processing for multi-server, multi-GPU compute nodes when working with massive datasets for machine learning, deep learning and complex analytical workloads.
